These silos are intended for the storage and delivery of finished bituminous mixes. In the most, the silos are of the squared type. Their particular components are made as transportable units. The entire system is of a modular design, making it possible to assembly individual silos of various storage capacities. The storage hopper itself is installed in an elevated structure allowing a lorry to pass it under. Subject to the mixing plant type, the silos are filled using either a skip hoist, or, with towers, by means of a tip cart travelling along a skip track. The track is mounted in the upper silo part and the cart is operated from the mixing plant control room. The silo is discharged through shutting flaps installed in the bottom part of the silo. In order the flaps to be protected from blocking by solidified bituminous mix, each flap is provided with an electric resistance heater. The whole silo is provided with thermal insulation made of mineral wool (Orsil, Rockwool, etc.) covered with the smooth jacket of aluminium or galvanised steel sheets or, possibly, of painted trapez sheets. The bottom discharge flaps and covers mounted on the silo roof are air-operated.

Silo surfaces are painted with a quality heat resistant epoxide or polyurethane coating system.
